As you may know, we have been very busy working on creating some great organizations that have been a want in the community for some time. Every day people arrive here at the shop talking about building and creating. Our goal has ever been to help these people in realizing their ambitions. On Saturday July 14th, from 4pm to 10pm we’d like to invite the public to an open house style making and creating event. Demonstrations currently include exhibits from members of Open Lab Idaho and their machines that make things, live silk screening demos and activities by the Design Bandits, Lego bot building presented by the Bots of Prey team, and other locals that are passionate about their art. Local social media marketing guru Shannon Morgan, of Firefly Collective will also have some great pointers for us regarding the upcoming Boise Mini Maker Faire, its an exciting event that we should definitely all have on the calendar for 2013.
We’ll have tables set up with tools and stuff to take apart, family friendly crafts to make, and demos from local makers and builders of things from the Treasure Valley. Earlier in the morning, our Raising Makers club will be hosting an introductory session for kids who would like to learn about 3D printing and desktop fabrication.
We’ll be having some contests and a raffle with cool geeky prizes such as and Arduino Servo kit, Fredboards, and a Big Box o’ Junk to invent with…
Payette Brewing will be pouring the delicious brew that they make as well. So prepare for quite a block party as we create and have fun!
For those of you who think Maker Faire is just for robots and science – think again. We have over 18 categories of making that ranges from Food & Farming, Human Performances, Fabrication and Industrial Arts, to Robots and Music.
